Hello!
” said the signalman. “What are you doing here?
” asked the little prince. “I’m sorting travelers out into batches of a thousand,” said the signalman,
“and sending the trains carrying them off to the right or to the left.”
a batch of something
send the trains off 把火车送走。
I’m sorting travelers out into batches of a thousand, said the signalman,
and sending the trains off to the right or to the left.
(I’m sorting travelers out into batches of a thousand),
并且“再把火车送走”(and sending the trains off to the right or to the left)。
carrying them 是后置定语,可以理解成中文里的“什么什么样的”:携带着、载着乘客的火车(trains carrying them,即trains carrying passengers or travelers)。
原文:A glittering express roared through like thunder, its lights twinkling,
making the signal box shake.
A glittering express roared through like thunder.
making the signal box shake
The express made the signal box shake.
The express made the signal box shake.(火车使得信号箱颤抖。
making the signal box shake(信号箱抖动)。
They are in a hurry,” said the little prince. “What are they after?
” “Even the engine driver doesn’t know that,” said the signalman.
in a hurry,匆匆忙忙,着急。
They are in a hurry.
be after something,追踪什么、追求什么。
What are they after?
What are they pursuing?
A second glittering express roared through in the opposite direction. “Are they coming back already?
” asked the little prince. “It’s not the same one,” said the signalman. “This is a junction.”
in the opposite direction,在相反的方向。
It’s not the same one, this is a junction.
Were they happy where they were?
” “No one’s ever happy where they are,” said the signalman.
There was the thunderclap of a third glittering express.
Were they happy where they were?
where they were 是地点状语,表示在那个地方。
No one’s ever happy where they are.
people feel lost in their life他们在人生中感觉走丢了,感觉迷茫,迷失了自己。
they don’t know what to do with their life他们不知道拿自己的人生怎么办。
they are not content with their current situation他们对现状不太满意、不满足。
They’re following the first travelers, aren’t they?
” said the little prince. “They’re not following anyone,” said the signalman. “They’re asleep inside or yawning.
Only the children have their noses pressed up against the glass.”
They are asleep,
press up against,press 表示按压、往上按压,against 表示对抗着、顶着。
Can you follow?(你能跟上吗?
Only children know what they want,
” said the little prince. “They spend their time on rag dolls which become very important,
and they cry if they’re taken away.” “They’re the lucky ones,” said the signalman.
The rose is the special one.(玫瑰是独特的一个。)
They’re the lucky ones.
Only children know what they want.
Children know what they want, but adults feel lost in their life.
Grown-ups feel lost in their life, while children know what they want.
It was the eighth day of my breakdown in the desert, and I was drinking my last drop of water.
my last drop of water,我的最后一滴水。
I said to the little prince, “It’s lovely to hear your adventures, but I still haven’t repaired my plane,
and now there’s nothing left to drink.
If only I could take a stroll down to a fountain!”
I still haven’t repaired my plane,
there’s nothing left to drink,现在没有水喝了。
if only,要是……
If only I could take a stroll down to a fountain!
take a stroll,慢慢悠悠地走过去。
He looked at me and answered my thoughts: “I’m thirsty too.
Let’s go and look for a well.”
” well,水井。
原文:I shrugged my shoulders wearily.
It’s absurd to go looking for a well in the immensity of the desert.
Still, we set out.
I shrugged my shoulders and said, “I don’t know.”(我耸耸肩说,我啥也不知道。
The king was really absurd.(那个发号施令的国王太荒谬了。)
He was absurd.(他很荒谬。
in the immensity of the desert,在浩瀚无垠的沙漠当中。
set out 就是began our journey。
Still, we set out.
go looking for a well,去寻找一口井。
After we’d been walking for hours in silence, the night came on and the stars came out.
My thirst had made me a bit feverish, and I saw them as if in a dream.
The little prince’s words danced in my memory.
the night came on,夜幕降临下来。
the stars came out,星星出来了。
my thirst had made me a bit feverish,我的口渴使得我有一点点发烧。
as if in a dream,好像在梦里一样。
dance in my memory,在我的记忆当中跳舞。
例句:my friend’s smile danced in my memory(朋友的笑容在我的记忆当中跳舞)。
例句:her wisdom danced in my memory(她的智慧在我的记忆当中跳舞)。
So you are thirsty too, are you?
” I said.
He didn’t answer my question.
He simply said, “Water can be good for the heart too.” I didn’t understand his reply, but I said nothing.
Water can be good for the heart too.
He was tired.
He sat down.
I sat down next to him, and after a while, he said, “The stars are beautiful,
because of a flower that can’t be seen.”
The stars are beautiful.
因为什么:because of a flower.
什么样的花:that can’t be seen.
can’t 可以拼写全为cannot:a flower that cannot be seen。
The stars are beautiful, because of a flower that can’t be seen.
Of course,” I said, and I looked at the folds of sand in the moonlight without speaking.
例句:fold your clothes(把你的衣服折叠起来)。
the folds of sand,沙子的褶皱。
The desert is beautiful,” he added, “and it was true.
I’ve always liked the desert.
You can sit on a sand dune.
There’s nothing to be seen, nothing to be heard, yet something radiates in the silence.”
there’s nothing to be seen, nothing to be heard,没有什么东西可以被看见,没有什么东西可以被听见,意思就是啥也看不见、啥也听不见。
相关词radiation(辐射):Some radiation can cause cancer.(有一些辐射可能会导致癌症。
yet something radiates in the silence.
原文:“What makes the desert beautiful,” said the little prince, “is that there’s a well hidden somewhere.”
What makes the desert beautiful is…
是……is 后面:that there’s a well hidden somewhere.
What matters is invisible to the eyes.(重要的东西眼睛是看不到的。
同样,what makes the desert beautiful,“让沙漠真正漂亮的东西”,is 后面就是这件事:there’s a well,什么样的井,hidden somewhere,藏在某个地方的一口井。
I was surprised to suddenly understand this mysterious radiation from the sand.
When I was a little boy, I once lived in an old house, and there was a legend that treasure was buried there.
that treasure was buried there,有宝藏埋在那里。
I once lived in an old house,
and there was a legend / that treasure was buried there.
主干:I once lived in an old house,
and there was a legend.
什么样的传说:that treasure was buried there.
时间:when I was a little boy.
Of course, no one had ever been able to find it, and maybe no one had even looked.
But it put a spell on the whole house.
My house hid a secret in the depths of its heart.
put a spell on the whole house,给整个房子施了一个魔法、一个咒语,就像巫师给你下咒语一样。
my house hid a secret,我的房子藏着一个秘密。depth,深处。
in the depths of its heart,在它的内心的深处。
in the depths of,在什么的深处。
Yes,” I said to the little prince. “Whether it’s a house or the stars or a desert,
the thing that makes them beautiful is invisible.” “I’m glad you agree with my
fox,” he said.
The thing that makes them beautiful is invisible.
What matters is invisible to the eyes. 原文:As the little prince had fallen asleep,
I picked him up and set out again, carrying him in my arms.
I was moved.
It seemed to me I was carrying a fragile treasure.
It even seemed to me there was nothing more fragile on earth.
也可以指接送小朋友:a father picks his son up(一个爸爸把他的儿子接过来)。
carry him in my arms,在我的手臂上抱着他走。
fly(飞行)、butterfly(蝴蝶)都有f 这个成分;flea(跳蚤)也是跳起来轻飘飘的;forget(忘记)也像羽毛一样飘走了、飞走了就忘记了。
it seemed to me
It seemed to me I was carrying a fragile treasure.(对我来说,我正在抱着一个脆弱的宝藏。)
It even seemed to me there was nothing more fragile on earth.(甚至对我来说,这个地球上没有更脆弱的东西了。)
As the little prince had fallen asleep, I picked him up and set out again,
carrying him in my arms.
主干:I picked him up and set out again.
前面一小句表示时间:as the little prince had fallen asleep,当小王子睡着的时候,正当……后面部分carrying him in my arms,用我的手臂把他抱着。
I looked at his pale forehead and his closed eyes in the moonlight.
The locks of his hair stirred in the wind, and I thought to myself: “All I can see is no more than a shell.
What matters is invisible.” So I walked on till daybreak and discovered the well.
his face turned pale(他的脸变得惨白,可能被吓到了,可能身体不好)。
pale skin(皮肤很白、色泽很淡)。
locks of his hair,lock
之前学过stir the sugar in your coffee(把咖啡里面的糖搅拌一下)。
no more than,不比什么多,仅仅是。
what matters is invisible,真正重要的是看不见的。
All I can see is no more than a shell.
What matters is invisible.
The most important things in your life can only be felt with your heart.
What do you think the signalman is doing?
Why is he doing it?
The signalman is sorting out travelers into batches of a thousand and sending the trains in different directions.
He seems really busy, but even he doesn’t really know where the travelers are going or why they’re in such a hurry.
When the little prince sees the trains rushing by, how does he feel?
Why does he think that way?
The little prince thinks the travelers must be in a hurry, maybe because they have something really important to do.
But the signalman says that most of them are probably just asleep or yawning,
and only the children are really looking out (of) the window.
looking out the window 也可以说looking out of the window,加不加of 都行。
After walking for a long time in the desert, what do the little prince and the narrator find?
What does it mean to them?
After walking for hours, they find a well.
The little prince says water can be good for the heart too.
It’s not just about quenching their thirst, but it represents something deeper,
like a hidden treasure in the desert that makes it beautiful.
Why does the little prince think the desert is beautiful?
How does he understand the idea of invisible things?
The little prince thinks the desert is beautiful because of the well that’s hidden somewhere in it.
It’s like, even though we can’t see the well, its existence makes everything around it beautiful.
He’s saying that the really important things in life are often invisible.
So every great success comes from small efforts.
Great success actually comes from small daily efforts.
这一次的句法比以往更复杂,接近于四六级的长难句型;
People cram themselves into expresses,” the little prince said, “but don’t even know what they want anymore.
So they worry and fret and go round in circles.” And he added, “It’s not worth the trouble.”
”逐词讲解:cram,cram someone or something into,把某人某物塞进什么。
意思接近fix something into(把什么塞入什么)。
cram 的常见搭配:cram for an exam,临时抱佛脚。
cram something into your head,拼命记忆和复习,把东西塞进脑袋。
例句:cram the textbook into your head(把教科书塞入你的脑袋),就是疯狂记忆、临时抱佛脚的感觉。
机场里仍然写着airport express(机场快线,连接到城市)。
American Express,
go round in circles,circle 表示圆圈,go round 表示绕圈圈。
go round in circles,兜着圈子、原地打转。
worth,值得的。
It’s not worth the trouble.
It’s worth doing something,
It’s worth learning English.
People cram themselves into expresses but don’t even know what they wa
nt anymore.
(这个长句中间被the little prince said 隔开、阻断了。)原文:
The well we found wasn’t like a desert well.
Desert wells are just hollows in the ground.
Ours looked like a village well, but there wasn’t a village, and I thought I must be dreaming.
the well we found,我们找到的井(we found 是we had found 的缩写,后置修饰)。
wasn’t like,不像。
换成原形就是be not like,不像什么一样。
How strange!
” I said to the little prince. “Everything’s ready: the pulley, the bucket, the rope.”
很多和家用房间、设备有关的词都是b 开头:building(建筑)、bathroom(厕所)、bed(床)、bedroom(卧室)。
He laughed, pulled the rope, made a pulley turn,
and the pulley squeaked like an old weather vane when the wind’s been asleep for a while.
for a while,一小会(之前讲过)。
He laughed, pulled the rope, made a pulley turn.
The pulley squeaked like an old weather vane.
when the wind’s been asleep for a while.
Listen!
” said the little prince. “We’ve woken this well up,
and it’s singing.” I didn’t want him to tire himself. “Let me do it,” I told him. “It’s too heavy for you.”
” wake something or someone up,把什么东西或谁(小动物)叫醒。
wake up,醒过来。
Elsa:Wake up, wake up, let’s go and play!
Do You Want to Build a Snowman 的前面就有wake up, wake up,一直叫她起床。
原文:Slowly I hoisted the bucket up to the rim, where I set it down firmly.
The squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears,
and in the still quivering water I saw the quivering sun.
set it down firmly,稳稳地放下来。
常见搭配:ring the bell(按响铃铛)。
Slowly I hoisted the bucket up to the rim,
where I set it down firmly.
主干:I hoisted the bucket up to the rim.
where I set it down firmly:where
The squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears.
这部分的主体是the squeaking(吱吱声):滑轮的吱吱声。
I hoisted the bucket up, hearing the sound of the pulley.(我把水桶拉了上来,听见了滑轮的声音。
而课文中是:the squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears,发出动作的主体是吱吱声;前面主句的主体是我。
I’m thirsty for that water,
” said the little prince. “Give me some to drink.” Then at last I understood what he wanted.
I’m thirsty for that water.
I’m thirsty for knowledge;I’m thirsty for books(我喜欢阅读,我渴求书籍)。
I lifted the bucket to his lips.
He drank with his eyes closed.
What a treat it was!
What a treat it was!
I treat the little prince as a child.(我把小王子当做小孩。
This water was more than just nourishment.
It was born from a walk under the stars, the squeaking of the pulley, the work of lifting it.
It did the heart good like a present.
my body is well nourished(我的身体被滋养得很好)。
more than just,超过仅仅是,不止只是。
It was born from 三样事物:the walk under the stars(星空下的行走)、the squeaking of the pulley(滑轮的吱吱声)、
the work of lifting it(把它举上来的辛劳)。
it did the heart good,对心做了一些好事,即滋润着心灵、对内心特别好。
like a present,就像一份礼物一样。
也可以说like a gift。
原文:When I was a little boy, the Christmas tree lights,
the music of midnight mass and loving smiles all contributed to the magic of the Christmas present I received.
也可以用got:the Christmas present I got(我获得的圣诞礼物)。
A contributes to B(A 促成B)。
也可以指做出贡献:make contribution to something。
例句:make contribution to society(对社会做出贡献)。
When I was a little boy, the Christmas tree lights,
the music of midnight mass and loving smiles all contributed to the magic of the Christmas present I received.
主干:all contributed to the magic of the Christmas present.
the Christmas tree lights, the music, (loving) smiles 这三样东西和all 是同位关系:
all指代前面这三样——光、音乐、笑容,这一切contributed to the magic。
前面的when I was a little boy 是时间状语,一般后面加逗号。
People here grow five thousand roses in a single garden,” said the little prince,
“and still don’t find what they want.” “It’s true, they don’t,
” I replied. “Yet what they want could be found in a single rose or a single mouthful of water.”
“Yes, it could,” I replied.
And the little prince added, “But the eyes are blind.
One must look with the heart.”
People here grow five thousand roses in a single garden,
and still don’t find what they want.
a single mouthful of water,一口水。blind,瞎的。
the eyes are blind,眼睛是瞎的。
look with the heart,用心来看。
也可以换成近义短语see with the heart。
But the eyes are blind.
One must look with the heart.
What matters is invisible to the eyes.(真正重要的事情,眼睛是看不到的。
What is important is invisible to the eyes.
It was born from a walk under the stars, the squeaking of the pulley, the work of lifting it.
它来自安德鲁·韦伯(Andrew Lloyd Webber)创作的音乐剧Love Never Dies,是《歌剧魅影》(The Phantom of the Opera)的第二部,享誉全球。
里面有一段歌词非常经典,讲的就是look with your heart:So look with your heart, and not with your eyes.
A heart understands, a heart never lies.
Believe what you feel, and trust what it shows.
Look with your heart, the heart always knows.
My heart missed a beat. “Have you got plans I don’t know about?
” he said. “You know, tomorrow it’ll be exactly a year since I fell to Earth.” Then, after a silence, he added,
“It was quite near here,” and he blushed.
My heart missed a beat,
Have you got plans I don’t know about?
分成两部分:have you got plans(你有没有一些计划)?
什么样的计划——I don’t know about(我所不知道的)。
tomorrow it’ll be exactly a year,明天就会正好一年。
since I fell to Earth,自从我掉到地球上来。
fall to the ground、fall to earth,掉到地上、掉到地球上。
名词,腮红:put some blush on your cheek(放一点点腮红在脸上)。
原文:And again I felt strangely troubled without knowing why.
But I thought of a question. “So it wasn’t just a coincidence that you were wandering around a thousand miles from human habitation that morning I met you eight days ago.
You were on your way back to the place where you fell, weren’t you?
” The little prince blushed again.
也可以说felt anxious:I felt anxious(我感到很焦虑、很不安)。
例子:coworker(同事,一起工作的人)、co-founder(联合创始人,一起创立公司的人)。
a thousand miles from human habitation,离人类居住地一千英里。
on your way back to…,回到什么的路上。
It wasn’t just a coincidence / that you were wandering around / a thousand miles from human habitation / that morning I met you eight days ago.
It wasn’t just a coincidence.
什么事情不是巧合:that you were wandering around.
在哪儿闲逛:a thousand miles from human habitation.
什么时候:that morning I met you eight days ago.
You were on your way back to the place where you fell, weren’t you?
主干:
You were on your way back to the place.
什么样的地方:where you fell.
The little prince blushed again.
The little prince isn’t like a grown-up.
The little prince isn’t like an adult.
decorations.
The baby cried like a wolf.
The baby cried like a siren.
句型四:I’m thirsty for …(我很渴望什么)示范:I’m thirsty for the books.
I’m hungry for the books. hungry
I felt … without knowing why.(我感到……,
I felt sad / anxious / annoyed / irritated / happy / content without knowing why.
How pretty!
How beautiful!
How lucky!
)One must be generous.(一个人必须大方。
)One must be confident.(一个人必须自信。
)One must be brave.(一个人必须勇敢。
)One must learn by doing.(一个人必须靠实践来学习。
What did the little prince say about people who cram into expresses?
He said they don’t know what they want, so they keep worrying and going round in circles.
What made the water they found special?
The water was special because it was connected to their efforts and the emotions they shared.
What did the little prince mean by saying “One must look with the heart”?
He meant that the most important things in life cannot be seen with the eyes;
they must be felt with the heart.
Why was the narrator troubled when the little prince talked about falling to Earth?
The narrator felt troubled (anxious) because the little prince seemed to be preparing to leave,
or return (go back) to where he came from.
Slowly I hoisted the bucket up to the rim, the squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears.
后半句the squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears 是独立主格(主体是“吱吱声”)。
I looked down at the foot of the wall and jumped with fright.
There raised up towards the little prince was one of those yellow snakes that can kill you in thirty seconds.
raised up towards the little prince,有一个东西立得很高,朝向小王子。
One of those yellow snakes was raised up towards the little prince.
Raised up towards the little prince was one of those yellow snakes.
that can kill you in thirty seconds
Raised up towards the little prince was one of those yellow snakes. 然后补充that can kill you in thirty seconds.
Groping in my pocket for my revolver, I began to run.
But hearing the noise I was making, the snake slipped off into the sand like a stream of water draining away,
and without much haste slid in among the stones with a slight metallic sound.
grope in my pocket,在口袋里面搜搜摸摸。
slipped off,滑走了。
slipped off into the sand,钻到沙子里面去了。
a stream of water,一股流淌的水。
slid in among the stones,滑到了石头之间。
名词形式是metal(金属)。
Groping in my pocket for my revolver, / I began to run. / But hearing the noise I was making,
/ the snake slipped off into the sand / like a stream of water draining away,
/ and without much haste / slid in among the stones / with a slight metallic sound.
主要动作:I began to run.
前面的groping in my pocket for my revolver 修饰I:在我跑之前,先在兜里找了一下手枪,然后开始跑。
but hearing the noise I was making,谁听到了我的噪音?
the snake slipped off into the sand.
like a stream of water draining away,就像一股泉水一样。
and without much haste slid in among the stones,然后就滑到石头缝里面去了。
I began to run, but the snake slipped off into the sand and slid in among the stones.
groping…、hearing…
I got to the wall just in time to catch my little prince in my arms.
He was as white as a sheet. “What’s all this about?
So now you talk to snakes, do you?
“逐词讲解:just in time,及时地。
as white as a sheet,和一张纸(床单)一样白。
What’s all this about?
What happened?
原文:I loosened his habitual golden scarf.
I cooled his temples with a damp cloth, and I got him to drink.
And now I dared not ask him more.
和我们之前所学的habit(习惯)很像。
相关词forehead(前额),位置也比较近。
(讲稿录音识别为call his temples with a damp clothes,正确应为cooled his temples with a damp cloth,用湿布给太阳穴降温。)
I dare not ask him more.
He looked at me gravely and put his arms around my neck.
I could feel his heart beating like a wounded bird dying of a gunshot wound.
He said, “I’m going home today.”
He looked at me gravely.
put his arms round my neck,把手臂绕在某个人的脖子上,手挂在脖子上,像小孩一样挂着、抱着。
die of something。
例句:my grandpa died of stomach cancer(我的爷爷死于胃癌)。
I could feel his heart beating like a wounded bird,我感觉到他的心在跳,像一只受伤的鸟儿。
文化意象:I’m going home today.
I could feel something extraordinary was about to happen.
I was holding him in my arms like a little child, yet it seemed to me that he was falling vertically into an abyss,
and there was nothing I could do to stop him.
这个词我们碰到好多次了,也就是unusual(不同寻常的)。
be about to,即将怎么样。
something is about to happen,某件事物即将发生。
纵向叫vertical(垂直的、纵向的),横向叫horizontal(水平的)。
falling vertically into an abyss,垂直下落到深渊里面。
it seemed to me that
I was holding him in my arms.
yet it seemed to me,然而似乎对我来说,我感觉到。
从句:he was falling vertically into an abyss.
and there was nothing I could do to stop him.
I could feel something extraordinary was about to happen,那我们可以预测一下情节:这一次是一个悲剧,还是一个喜剧,还是皆大欢喜的结局?
What is going to happen?
And he laughed softly. “I’ll be a lot more frightened this evening,
once again.” I was chilled by the feeling that all was lost.
I realized I couldn’t bear the idea of never hearing his laugh again.
For me, it was like a fountain in the desert. “Young man, I want to hear you laugh again!
Are you frightened of my hat?
I will be a lot more frightened.
I’ll 全部拼写出来就是I will。
I was chilled,
the feeling that all was lost,一切都失去了的感觉。
I couldn’t bear the idea of never hearing his laugh again.
fountain in the desert,沙漠当中的泉水。
But he said, “It’ll be a year tonight.
My star will be directly over the spot where I fell last year.” “Come on, young man!
It’s just a bad dream, the story of a star and a pact between you and a snake, isn’t it?
My star will be directly over the spot.
where I fell last year,我去年落下来的那个地方。
come on,拜托、别这样。
Come on, young man.
It’s just a bad dream, the story of a star and a pact between you and a snake, isn’t it?
But he didn’t answer my question.
He said, “What matters can’t be seen.” “Of course not.
It’s the same with my flower.
If you love a flower on the star, looking at the sky at night is a pleasure.
All the stars are in bloom.”
”逐词讲解:what matters can’t be seen,重要的事情是看不见的。
)it’s the same with something,什么东西也是如此。
It’s the same with my flower.
looking at the sky at night is a pleasure,晚上看着天空就是一种享受。
all the stars are in bloom,所有的星星都在绽放。
If you love a flower on the star, looking at the sky at night is a pleasure.
All the stars are in bloom.
Of course.
It’s the same with the water.
The water you gave me to drink was like music, because of the pulley and the rope.
Do you remember how good it was?
” “Of course.”
Stars aren’t the same for everyone.
For travelers, they’re guides; for some people, they’re just little lights; for experts, they’re a problem;
for my businessman, they were gold.
But all these stars are silent.
Your stars won’t be like anyone else’s.” “What do you mean?
” “Because I’m living on one of them, because I’m laughing on one of them.
When you look at the stars at night, it’ll be as if all the stars are laughing.
Your stars will laugh.” And he laughed again.
逐词讲解:这一段写得非常美,是一个排比:for travelers, they’re guides对于旅行者来说,星星是指南;for some people, they’re just little lights对于一些人来说,
只是小小的光;for experts, they’re a problem对于专家来说,是一个问题。
学地理学家那一章,也可以说geographers(地理学家)。
小王子之前碰到过地理学家;for my businessman, they were gold对于我的商人来说,是金子;but all these stars are silent但是所有这些星星都是安安静静的;
your stars won’t be like anyone else’s你的星星和别人的是不一样的。
it’ll be as if,这将会好像。
it’ll be as if all the stars are laughing,就好像所有的星星都在灿烂地笑。
Your stars will laugh.
And he laughed again.
“And once you’ve got over it, you’ll be glad to have known me.
You’ll always be my friend.
You’ll feel like laughing with me, and sometimes you’ll open your window just like that, for the sheer pleasure.
And your friends will be amazed to see you looking at the sky and laughing.
Then you can tell them, ‘Yes,
the stars always make me laugh.’ And they’ll think you’re mad.” And he laughed again.
once you’ve got over it,一旦你已经跨越了这个东西、心理上克服了这件事。
you’ll be glad to have known me,你会很开心认识了我。
feel like doing something,想要做某事。
I feel like reading a book(我挺想看书的);I feel like having dinner(我有点想吃晚饭)。
You’ll feel like laughing with me.
open your window for the sheer pleasure,打开窗户仅仅是为了纯粹的愉悦。
Your friends will be amazed to see you looking at the sky and laughing.
Then he became serious once more. “Listen, don’t come tonight.
I’m not leaving you alone.” “It’ll seem as if it hurts.
It’ll seem as if I’m dying.
That’s how it is.
Don’t come and see that.
Don’t bother.” “I’m not leaving you alone.”
It’ll seem as if it hurts.
It’ll seem as if I’m dying.
that’s how it is,这个过程就是这个样子的。
I didn’t see him set out that night.
He slipped away silently.
When I managed to catch up with him, he was walking resolutely and fast.
And he took my hand, but he was still upset. “You were wrong to come.
You’ll be hurt.
It’ll seem as if I’m dead, and it won’t be true.” I kept quiet.
He slipped away silently.
catch up with someone,追赶上某人。
When I managed to catch up with him. resolutely,
He was walking resolutely and fast.
you were wrong to come,你来这里就是错的。
it’ll seem as if I’m dead, and it won’t be true,似乎好像我已经死亡了,但这不会是真的。
I kept quiet,
You see, it’s too far.
I can’t take this body.
It’s too heavy.” I kept quiet. “But it’ll be like an old empty shell.
There’s nothing sad about an old empty shell.”
I can’t take this body.
It’s too heavy.
There’s nothing sad about…
There’s nothing happy about…
拓展句型:There’s something 加形容词about… 例句:There’s something mysterious about The Little Prince.(关于小王子这本书,有一些很神秘的东西。
He remained still for a moment.
He didn’t scream.
He fell gently down like a tree.
It didn’t even make a sound, because of the sand.
之前学过he remained silent(他保持沉默)。
for a moment,一小会。
scream,尖叫。
He didn’t scream. fell gently down,轻轻地倒下来。
fell down,倒下来。
like a tree,就像一棵树。
make a sound,发出声音。
It didn’t even make a sound, because of the sand.
What does the pilot see when he looks down at the wall?
How does he react?
When the pilot looks down at the foot of the wall, he sees a yellow snake that can kill in thirty seconds.
He is scared and tries to find his gun (revolver), but the snake slips off into the sand.
When he reaches the little prince, he finds him looking pale and weak.
The pilot helps him by cooling his temples (forehead) with a damp cloth,
loosening his scarf and giving him some water.
What does the little prince tell the pilot about going home?
How does the pilot feel about it?
The little prince says he’s going home today, and the pilot feels something extraordinary is about to happen.
The pilot holds the little prince, but it seems as if he’s falling into an abys
s, and the pilot can’t stop it.
The little prince talks about the stars, explaining that all the stars will seem to laugh because of him.
He believes that looking at the sky at night will remind the pilot of their friendship.
What does the little prince tell the narrator before he leaves?
Why does he say not to follow him?
Before leaving, the little prince asked the pilot not to follow him, because it’ll seem like he’s dying (dead),
but it won’t be true.
He says that his body is too heavy and that he can’t take it, and there’s nothing sad about an old empty shell.
And then he falls gently down like a tree in the sand.
延伸讨论这一篇文章的主题:the nature of life and death,生死的本质。
The little prince said, “It’ll seem as if I’m dying, but it won’t be true.” What do you think this quote means?
Can you explain what he might be trying to convey about life and death?
I think this quote suggests that … isn’t always the …
Of course, that was already six years ago.
I’ve never told the story before.
My friends were really pleased to discover I was alive.
I was sad, but I told them, “I’m just tired.” I’ve got over it a bit now.
Well, not quite.
But I’m sure he got back to his planet, for I couldn’t find his body at daybreak.
It wasn’t such a heavy body.
And at night I love listening to the stars, like five hundred million bells.
I keep wondering what’s happened on his planet.
Perhaps the sheep’s already eaten the flower.
Sometimes I think, “Of course it hasn’t.
The little prince covers his flower every night with a glass globe and keeps a watchful eye over his sheep.” Then I’m happy,
and the stars laugh gently.
Sometimes I think, “You’ve only got to forget for a second — that’s all it takes.
One evening he’ll have forgotten the glass globe,
or the sheep will have got out in the night without making a sound.” Then all the bells change into tears.
keep a watchful eye over,警惕地看管、密切关注。
all the bells change into tears,所有的铃铛都变成了眼泪。原文:
It’s a real puzzle for those of you who love the little prince like me.
Nothing in the universe is the same if somewhere, who knows where, an unknown sheep has or hasn’t eaten a rose.
Look up at the sky.
Ask yourself, “Has the sheep eaten the flower or not?
” And you’ll see how everything changes.
And no grown-up will ever understand how important this is for me.
This is the most beautiful and the saddest landscape in the world.
This is the spot where the little prince appeared on Earth, and then disappeared.
Look at this landscape carefully so you can be sure of recognizing it again if you are ever traveling in Africa in the desert.
And if ever it happens that you pass this spot, I beg you, don’t hurry by, but wait around a while beneath the stars.
And if a laughing child comes up to you, if he has golden hair, if he never answers questions, you will know who he is.
Then be kind.
Don’t leave me in misery.
Write to me at once to tell me he’s back.
I beg you,我请求你。
don’t hurry by,不要匆匆走过。
beneath the stars,在星空下。

trains carrying them(载着乘客的火车);;;a well hidden somewhere(藏在某处的井);a stream of water draining away(流走的水);a bird dying of gunshot wounds(死于枪伤的鸟);the Christmas present I received(我收到的礼物)。
2. 现在分词短语做状语(主体与主句一致):carrying him in my arms;groping in my pocket for my revolver;hearing the noise I was making。
A glittering express roared through like thunder, its lights twinkling, making the signal box shake.
Slowly I hoisted the bucket up to the rim, the squeaking of the pulley still ringing in my ears.
4. 定语从句:a flower that can’t be seen;the place where you fell。
同位语从句:a legend that treasure was buried there。
5. what 引导的名词性从句:What makes the desert beautiful is that…;
What matters is invisible to the eyes. 6.
People cram themselves into expresses but don’t even know what they want anymore. 7.
When I was a little boy,
… all contributed to the magic of the Christmas present I received. 8. Raised up towards the little prince was one of those yellow snakes… One of those yellow snakes was raised up towards the little prince.
I’ll be a lot more frightened this evening.
My star will be directly over the spot. 10.
You were on your way back to the place where you fell, weren’t you?
Were they happy where they were?
No one’s ever happy where they are. 12.
